FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rochester, NY – Professional golfer, Jon Rahm, has been named the Hickok Belt® Award winner for the month of July 2020. Voting was conducted by a select panel of members of the National Sports Media Association (NSMA). The voters selected Rahm based on his phenomenal victory at the PGA Tour Memorial on July 19, 2020, held at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. He achieved his official “Number One” World Golf Ranking at the first major of the year. After a stellar performance, Rahm finished the victory with rounds of 69, 67, 68 and 75 shots, finishing at 9-under 279. This was Rahm’s 10th professional career victory, his fourth on the PGA Tour. He was greeted by golf legend Jack Nicklaus, tournament host, with a hand-fist at the final tournament 18th green. It was the perfect ending to a remarkable week of major professional golf.

Other finalists for the month of July in order of how the NSMA voters ranked them were: Shane Bieber (baseball), Kevin Harvick (auto racing), James Harden (basketball), Matt Olson (baseball), Brian Goodwin (baseball), Vergil Ortiz (boxing), Scott Dixon (auto racing), Lewis Hamilton (auto racing) and Serpentine (Jockey, Emmett McNamara - horse racing).

Jon Rahm’s selection as the Hickok Belt® Award winner for the month of July 2020 not only recognizes him as “the best of the best” in professional sports for the month and makes him the fourth candidate eligible to receive the overall Hickok Belt® Award for 2020, joining Dustin Johnson, Tyson Fury and Patrick Mahomes.
