ESPN's Gameday crew visits with NSMA Alabama Student Chapter

03.22.2024

For the first time in Alabama basketball history, College Gameday appeared in Tuscaloosa at Coleman Coliseum. The NSMA Alabama student chapter was honored to host Rece Davis from College Gameday this past weekend. It was the second time Davis joined the chapter this year to meet with members and give insight into his day-to-day responsibilities. Members then had the opportunity to go behind the scenes of College Gameday to watch the live production of the show up close and learn how College Gameday operates in an environment it has never been to before. This was a valuable experience for the student chapter because they witnessed each working part that goes into the show such as analysts, production, public relations, etc.

Members also met Alabama Basketball’s Head Coach Nate Oats, Athletic Director Greg Byrne, and College GameDay’s Public Relations Coordinator Julie McKay. Some members also reconnected with fellow NSMA member, Andraya Carter, whom they met last June, during the NSMA Awards Weekend. The Alabama student chapter enjoys providing these opportunities to its members because each individual can become more knowledgeable about the industry and further connections.

What this experience meant to our members:
Alex Boothe (NSMA Member) - “It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will certainly never forget.”
Alex Chasen (NSMA Member) - “This opportunity and many others would not have been possible without Alabama’s National Sports Media Association chapter. I’m so grateful to be part of such a like-minded community that rewards the hard work you put in!”
Jake Reichert (NSMA Member) - “Seeing the Gameday set live right in front of you was a thrilling experience that just adds to the drive to work in the industry.”
