Researchers Looking for Former Athletes Now in Sports Media

Hi NSMA members,

My name is Allison Smith and I am a post doctorate research fellow at Virginia Commonwealth University in the Center for Sport Leader. My colleague from the University of Tennessee (Dr. Erin Whiteside) and I are working on a current study looking at the experiences of former collegiate or professional athletes that have worked or are currently working in sport media. As part of this research, I am very interested in how your athletic background informs your work as a sport reporter and what your identity as an athlete means to you as someone who works in sports media.

Participating in this study would be a one hour interview that would be audio recorded for transcription purposes. All information collected will be kept confidential and any excerpts used in the written research report will be made anonymous as to protect anyone from linking you as a participant in this research.
