We've been (somewhat) patiently awaiting the rescheduling of the NSMA's third Ann Spencer Sports Connector Award, better known as The Annie.

And we're excited to tell you that we have a date: Thursday, October 14 at Forsyth Country Club in Winston-Salem.

We'll be honoring Winston-Salem's Claudette Weston with this year's Annie. Weston is a Winston-Salem native, who has served on 60+ nonprofit boards in and around North Carolina. She and her late husband helped shepherd in a changing era of race relations in the 1960s, befriending legendary Winston-Salem State basketball coach Clarence "Big House" Gaines and his star player Earl "The Pearl" Monroe (the 2018 Annie winner).

The Annie is named for Ann Spencer, the former CEO of Goody's Headache Powders, whose alliances with NASCAR and the University of North Carolina sports, made her a frequent visitor to events involving those two entities throughout the country.

Tickets will be available, starting July 15 in the Events section of the NSMA website, nationalsportsmedia.org.
